Great in stews, sauces, salads and side dishes. A favouite in Mexican bean dishes! They hold their shape well when cooked. Black turtle beans are a staple in Latin America, they often feature in Latin American cuisine as a meat substitute. They are small (about the size of a pea), oval and jet black in colour. Black turtle beans are often combined with rice, spices, vegetables, chillies & onion and make a great base for a chilli or nachos or burrito bean mix. They have a mild, sweet earthy taste and soft creamy texture when cooked.
